Buff & Berger Dating:

We Offer Buff & Berger Instrument Research
If you are researching your Buff & Berger instrument we may be able to help.  We have copies of a lot of the original records for instruments dating from 1884 to 1898.  Please email us the serial number of your instrument and we will see if we have the original build records.  If we do have the records we will ask you to make a $10.00 donation and once we receive the donation we will email you copies of the records that you can print out on your computer.

***Please do not make a donation until you hear from us that we actually have the records for your instrument.

We use PayPal for our donations but you do not need a PayPal account to make a donation.  PayPal works just like a credit card Processing Service and if you have a credit card you can make a donation without having a PayPal account.

Buff & Berger  Numbers

These numbers are taken from the available original Buff & Berger build sheets.  In the chart below is a list of serial numbers from the lowest serial number to the highest serial number for a specific year.  You will note in the first year that an instrument was actually sold multiple times.

Your serial number should fall between the lowest and highest number listed for a specific year.

Example: If your serial number is 2312 than your approximate year of manufacture is 1895.

There could be a 1-3 year deferential based on when the actual instrument was made and when it was sold.

Special Note:

The first log book for Buff & Berger has not been made public as of yet so the Buff & Berger instruments from 1871 - 1886 are hard to date.  Hopefully some day we can get this information and make it available to everyone.
